What signals are used in I2C interface?

Answer

I2C is very simple serial interface with only two wires.

  • SDA (Serial DatA): Carries data signal
  • SCL (Serial CLock): Carries clock signal

Both SDA and SCL are bi-directional lines, connected to a positive supply voltage via a current-source or pull-up resistor. When the bus is free, both lines are HIGH.
